How to dance with myself

A snippet of a memory of a thing I did not do

People can be hard on themselves about the things they didn’t do.

Feel the fear and do it anyway.

Do it anyway. Because it makes you feel good.

Research what types of jobs there are for working with animals.

Do it because you want to do it, not because of what others think

When I was young, maybe 10 or 12, I wanted to go to a new dance class. Mum arranged for me to go. She drove me there, pulled up outside the building and said I should go in, they were expecting me. Mum wasn’t going in (she was busy, there were three of us kids, plus dinner, plus work). I was SO scared to go in by myself. I got out of the car, mum left. I wanted to go in, but I walked straight home. I really wanted to go to that class. I never went back again.

A scenario that could have been…talking to myself: Hey, are you ok? I’m scared to go in alone. Yeah I get that. You want me to come in with you and introduce you to the dance teacher? Yes please. Cool. what’s your name? I’m you. Yes you are!  Ok we’ve got this, lets go in!
